Day 01: COLOMBO*

Arrival met by a representative/guide of Gateway Lanka Tours and transfer to Colombo.

City tour and shopping in Colombo*

Colombo is Sri Lanka’s largest city. Colombo Like many capital cities in developing countries Colombo is fast changing its face. Almost overnight, skyscrapers arise from where old buildings once stood, yet in some parts; the old world charm is retained. A 100-year-old clock tower and several British built, colonial buildings are still to be seen in the city. The Pettah bazaar sinhalese word “Petta” meaning “outside the fort.” – where one can shop for bargains, Hindu and a Buddhist temple, residential areas where you find the stately homes of the affluent, the Colombo museum, the Bandaranaike memorial international conference hall , the new parliament in Sri Jayawardenapura and the folk art center are some of the places of interest that one can visit to.

Day 02: KANDY*

After an early breakfast leave for Kegalle and visit the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. Pinnawela is the home of elephants of different age and size feeding, bathing, playing together and even mating. These have been found injured or left abandoned in the wilderness. There are even little baby calves born in captivity. This is one of the largest elephant orphanages in the world.
Drive to Kandy for a sightseeing tour. We will of course visit the Holy Temple of the Tooth of the Buddha. This temple, the most important one for the Sri Lankan Buddhists was built in the 16th Century A.D. solely for the purpose of housing the tooth relic. Enjoy a typical Sri Lankan Cultural Show of Drumming, Dancing & music. Later visit Art and Crafts* Centre and Gem* Bureau view a documentary film too on how Sri Lankan Gem mining is traditionally done.

Day 03: COLOMBO
After breakfast leave for Colombo or for a beach stay or to Airport for your departure.
